“Mobile data subscriptions have gone from 1,222,000 in Dec ’10 to 3,609,000 in June ’11. Astounding growth.” That first sentence says it all. We all know that smartphones are getting smarter, more economical and with the content upgrades to internet service, extremely fast. So how does this effect your business? Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are [...]
The United States of America is the central hub for Social Media; the bomb, the place to be, learn and experience. I’ve just landed in the USA for an educational business trip for White Echo- Â to learn first hand how businesses are using social media to engage with their customers. Following the digital space [...]
A few months ago I wrote a blog on a walkie talkie app called Heytell. With a little demo view, I found a lot of people interested in a little app that allows you to simply hold down a button, talk and send a message to your friends. When visiting the USA back in 2005 [...]
Have you ever heard an ad on radio, seen one on TV or seen a quick glimpse in the local paper and thought to yourself, “What was that name/number again?” My hand is up, I certainly have. Now that we have the digital space, there’s no issues unless that company doesn’t have their digital space setup [...]
I’ll be the first to admit it; I love iPhone apps. Who doesn’t? I love researching the top 25, staff favourites and the new releases. Here’s a perfect example. I’m sitting at home last Sunday and all the talk on Twitter from Saturday night was, “How good is Hangover 2?” Now with three kids under [...]
The digital world is moving so fast, sometimes you feel as though if you purchase this today, it might change tomorrow. Those recent remarks came when the iPad was released. The first iPad was released – in Australia – in Novemebr 2010. It was a huge success but from my perspective, people in Australia didn’t [...]
When I was holidaying in Hawaii in 2005, I happen to walk past someone talking into their phone. Strange you might add, but this was a little different. It was as though they were talking to someone on speaker, but not exactly the traditional way. Moments later, I walked past another person doing the same [...]
Western Australia’s Swan Taxis are leading the way with their world first iPhone app.
The free app, available through iTunes, allows users to make a booking for a cab from their iPhone or iPad. Users are also offered a fare estimator and are able to track their cab by viewing a GPS map.
Last week, White Echo CEO Jeff White used the Swan Taxis App and was amazed by how efficient and effective it was. “I was standing on a street corner, with no idea as to where I was, and I simply downloaded the app, selected my current location and then followed the cab (the red dot on my GPS map) approaching me (the blue dot). It was so easy, especially as I don’t live in Perth, but would also be a great tool to use on a regular basis. It cuts out the wait time, as well as any hassle. It’s a brilliant app.”
I’ve discovered WhatsApp Messenger. WhatsApp is an alternative to expensive SMS texting plans.
WhatsApp allows you to send unlimited text messages to anywhere in the world for free. Yes, for free.
